nalkaIn Kingscraft, your goal is to be the first to defeat [red]the king/queen[/red]. However you'll have to get better [blue]equipment[/blue] if you want to be strong enough to stand a chance.2ROGUE_GEN

nalkaEach turn, every player will secretly pick an action then they will be resolved according to their position in turn order. The more to the left, the earlier in turn order. Let's use Guard (the gift) for this turn.3ACTION_KING_actionSelection

nalka[blue]Our opponent[/blue] picked Fight class 1 (the swords with a 1). Since it's further to the left than Guard in the actions list, our action will be resolved second. Let's ignore what our opponent does for now and move on to our turn.1ACTION_FIGHT_01_7699b5_turnorder

nalkaGuarding allows us to take a class 1 item from the available items. At the start of the game BGA randomly gave [blue]2 of them[/blue] to each player. Each item's class is visible on its top left corner, you can also determine an item's class according to its position on the items board. The top row is class 1 items, the middle row is class 2 items and the bottom row is class 3 items.1ACTION_GUARD_bf8146_turnorder

nalkaSince we can pick a class 1 item, we must pick from the top row. Let's take the metal chains (between the feather and the helmet) to hit our enemies harder!2ACTION_GUARD_bf8146_turnorder

nalkaAs you can see, BGA automatically placed it in our purple item slot (chest). This is possible because the metal chains are a gray item (just like the feather), this means it can occupy any type of slot. Our sword on the other hand is a [blue]blue item[/blue], so it can only go to our [blue]blue item slot[/blue] (hands). Ever seen someone use a sword as helmet? Not me :p1ROGUE_GEN

nalkaThat's it for our first turn. It's time to select an action again :) I don't feel like we're ready to fight so let's get some more equipment with an other "Guard" action.1ACTION_GUARD_actionSelection

nalkaOur opponent also used Guard. Since we both picked the *same action*, a *friendly fight* will take place and the winner will go first. As you can see in the game history, BGA automatically resolved that fight and we won it with 17 strength while our opponent had 8. I'll explain fights in depth soon.1ACTION_GUARD_7699b5_turnorder

nalkaLet's see... We already have a sword and metal chains, that looks good as offensive items however these and our feather won't really help protecting ourselves, let's fix that :D Take the purple cloak from the available items!2ACTION_GUARD_7699b5_turnorder

nalkaThis time BGA didn't automatically put it in the corresponding item slot because it's already occupied by our metal chains. Remember, metal chains are a gray item so they can go anywhere. This means we can move them to our orange item slot (head) to free the purple slot for our new cloak! I'll do this for you. [green][tip] You can rearrange your inventory at will *outside fights*.[/green]1ROGUE_GEN

nalkaOkay, now that we have some protection and our equipment is complete, I think we're ready to fight! Click the "Fight class 1" action (to the left of the gift).2HIDDEN_7699b5_turnorder

nalkaAs you probably noticed, there were 3 similar fight actions available. Each one allows us to fight against the monster of the corresponding class. Since we picked the class 1 action, we'll fight against the [red]class 1 monster[/red]. Its only ability is to have as many six sided dices as the active player's hearts (3 in our case). Let's beat it! Click "Start Fight" (above our board).1M7

nalkaAs you can see on our player informations panel, we have [green]4 six sided dice[/green]. When fighting we roll them to build part of our total strength for the fight. Here we rolled 15, it'll be pretty hard for that monster to beat us with its 3 dice 8)1b8e05905-4641-4723-8981-b15c680c8e35

nalkaIt rolled 8, we're ahead so far! Next if we had base strength it would be added to our roll but we have none (neither does the monster). Since our *total* (15) is *higher* than the monster's (8) we win! !!! Enemies always win ties2e51afb60-1b84-4dc9-8546-0fd78d6ee2b8

nalkaBut wait! Before the fight is really over, we'll lose hearts, representing the damage we took. !!! This *ALWAYS* happens, no matter if we had a higher total or not. The monster's total (8) will be used in that regard, its extra damage (0) will be added to it. If the difference between this and our armor (the shield icon so 7) is from 1 to 10, we'll lose 1 heart. 2 if from 11 to 20 and so on...3e51afb60-1b84-4dc9-8546-0fd78d6ee2b8

nalka[red]!!! If you lose your last heart(s) this way, the enemy will win the fight, *even if your total was higher!*[/red] Remember friendly fights that BGA automatically resolves when several players pick the same action? They work all the same except there's no heart loss. After all, it wouldn't be friendly if folks were damaging each other :D4e51afb60-1b84-4dc9-8546-0fd78d6ee2b8

nalkaJust a quick recap before we finish the fight: • Our total (dice 15 + base strength 0) is higher than the enemy's (dice 8 + base strength 0). • We lose 1 of our 3 hearts (8 total + 0 extra damage - 7 armor = 1 which is from 1 to 10 so we lose 1 heart). • We have a higher total *AND* didn't lose our last heart so [green]we win[/green]!5e51afb60-1b84-4dc9-8546-0fd78d6ee2b8

nalkaAt the bottom of the fight screen, we can end the fight but we also have the option to restart the fight once. This is thanks to the swords surrounded by an arrow icon from our equipment (the feather). Since we won the fight and only lost 1 heart let's play safe and just end the fight.6pagemaintitletext

nalkaSince we won, the monster is gone and a new [red]class 1 monster[/red] has been revealed. Our reward for winning is a class 1 item and the ability to forge once. I'll explain forging next but first, let's take our well deserved class 1 item. Let's take the leftmost item. It's a forging joker, I guess this can be useful when... forging? :D1ACTION_FIGHT_01_7699b5_turnorder

nalkaNow let's forge! When forging, you have several options, I'll explain the other ones later but one of them is to merge two items into a higher class item. Items can be merged following the descending arrows in the items board. For example, we could merge our [red]feather[/red] and [blue]metal chains[/blue] into the [green]necklace[/green] below them.1pagemaintitletext

nalka"But you said the [red]forging joker[/red] would be useful when forging..." Right, I don't like that necklace either, I just want a [blue]better sword[/blue]!2pagemaintitletext

nalkaAs you can see we own only [green]one[/green] of the two components for the [blue]better sword[/blue]. Our opponent owns the [red]other one[/red]. That's when forging jokers become handy! They can be used to replace any item (of the same class) we don't own when merging two items. This means we can still get that [blue]better sword[/blue].3pagemaintitletext

nalkaTo merge your joker and sword into the better sword, just click the better sword in the items list and BGA will automatically determine what items you used. [green][tip] If the used items choice is ambiguous, BGA will let you choose the two items you want to use to forge your new item.[/green]4pagemaintitletext

nalkaAlright, it's our opponent's turn to do their class 1 fight. The ability of the monster they're facing is to have as many six sided dice as the active player (here it's our opponent, so 2). It also has a restriction but since our opponent has what it takes to bypass it, just ignore it and I'll explain how they work later. Try to use what we just learned to analyse their fight!1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

nalkaThey lost the fight (6 vs 8), thanks for being on our side mister monster! This means, no reward for them. This also means the monster they just fought will stay there.1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

nalkaThese monsters are scary, let's use Guard again to get some more equipment.1HIDDEN_7699b5_turnorder

nalkaWe lost a heart already so let's get some more protection, take the class 1 helmet.1ACTION_GUARD_bf8146_turnorder

nalkaAlright, now that we have some more protection, let's try to beat the class 1 monster! Pick Fight class 1 to fight it.1M2

nalkaBefore starting the fight, since that monster's ability is to have as many six sided dice as us, let's lower our (hence its) number of dice to take less damage. Let's unequip our sword first. Click it and click the spot in our bag just below it.1M2

nalkaNow since it doesn't give us dice (it gives a "restart fight") and we have a free slot for it, let's just equip the feather (in the blue slot).2M2

nalkaDon't forget to unequip the metal chains too (put it in the bag slot below it) !1M2

nalkaGreat! We're ready to fight now, start the fight and let's see how it goes.1M2

nalkaRah we lost it (6 vs 6, enemies win ties), but thankfully we equiped our feather so we have a chance to restart the fight instead of ending it, let's do this!1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

nalkaWe lost again (3 vs 8 this time)! :/ This monster is really strong... At least, thanks to our armor (14) we didn't lose any heart. Our opponent picked Fight class 1 too, let's see how they do against it.1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

nalkaToo bad, they won! Well at least this monster will be gone now. Remember what the rewards are for winning a class 1 fight? If not, let me remind you: a class 1 item and the ability to forge once. Let's move on to the next turn.1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

nalkaLook at the new class 1 monster. Its ability is to roll 2 six sided dice and multiply them. Let's try Fight class 1 again and see if we can beat it. [green][tip] As you may have noted, I equiped back our sword and metal chains since we're no longer fighting the monster that copies our amount of six sided dice.[/green]1M5

nalka27 on our side, that was a great roll! But the monster's roll is even greater since it rolled 36 (6 * 6). Let's use the restart fight from the feather, it can't get worse anyway.1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

nalkaThe monster rolled 30 (6*5) this time, how unlucky! We no longer can restart the fight so let's just end it. :/1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

nalkaSince we also lost all our hearts on the previous fight, we can't fight as long as we don't recover at least one (otherwise we'd lose automatically since we have no heart at the end of the fight). Let's heal with the corresponding action (the second one).1heart_container_84248815

nalkaAfter using our "restart fight" we finally won against this monster (23 vs 3), let's hope the next ones aren't this hard to beat! Let's end the fight and claim our rewards (1 class 1 item and forging once).1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

nalkaSince we're about to forge, let's take a level 1 forging joker again (the one on the left).1ACTION_FIGHT_01_bf8146_turnorder

nalkaLet's merge the feather and the metal chains into the necklace, since it combines the effect of both items, it'll make room in our equipment for other items :) First click the necklace.1ACTION_FIGHT_01_bf8146_turnorder

nalkaNow click the metal chains then the feather (in this order otherwise the tutorial won't be happy) in our equipment then "craft item".1ACTION_FIGHT_01_bf8146_turnorder

nalkaWe successfully did Fight class 1 again, this time I went ahead and picked the class 1 item for you so we just have to forge. Remember when I said there are several options when forging? I think it's time for you to learn a new one.1ACTION_FIGHT_01_bf8146_turnorder

nalkaYou might have noticed that our class 2 items (the [blue]sword[/blue] and the [green]necklace[/green]) both have a +1 on the right of their stats box. This is represents the stats they'll gain once you flip them to their *enhanced* side. Guess what, that's the second way we can forge: flipping one of our items to its enhanced side! [green][tip] Only class 2 and 3 items can be enhanced.[/green]2ACTION_FIGHT_01_bf8146_turnorder

nalkaLet's enhance our [blue]sword[/blue] so that it gives us a third extra six sided dice! Move your mouse on the [blue]sword[/blue] then click "enhance".3ACTION_FIGHT_01_bf8146_turnorder

nalkaWe're starting to get strong enough to look at higher class monsters, let's take a look at the [red]class 2 monster[/red]. Remember when I talked about restrictions? This monster has one so it's time to learn how they work ;)1M19

nalkaThis monster's restriction is a chest slot restriction, you can see it just above the monster's abilities. This means, if the restriction applies, the effects of the item in our chest slot will be ignored (as if we unequipped it before the fight).2M19

nalkaRestrictions can be bypassed with sufficient speed. We currently have a speed of 1 (the rabbit icon) thanks to our character's base stats. To bypass a restriction, we must have a speed at least equivalent to the class of the monster. Since this monster is a class 2 monster we'd need 2 speed to bypass its restriction. [green][tip] Kings/Queens are considered as being class 4 enemies [/green]3M19

nalkaThe other use of speed (rabbit icon) is to break ties in turn order, so far we always had the same speed as our opponent so it didn't matter in that regard. However when several players pick the same action, the player with the highest speed plays first. The friendly fights we saw earlier only take place if the players who picked the same action have the same speed.4archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

nalkaSince this monster is a class 2 monster and our speed is 1, we can't bypass its restriction. Given it has a base strength of 7 *and* 2 six sided dice, fighting it without the item in our chest slot seems a little too risky for now. I'll fast forward to our next turn.5M19

nalkaAs you can see, we got [green]new boots[/green] and with them, enough speed to bypass the class 2 monsters' restrictions. Let's go for a class 2 fight this turn.2I2_2_craftingtree

nalkaWe won! Time to get our rewards :D !!! Unlike class 1 fights, winning class 2 and 3 fights *doesn't* give the ability to forge. Instead you get to take a class 2 or 3 (same as the defeated monster) item directly.1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

nalkaOn this turn, I picked the Forge action for you. This means we can forge twice. The last way to forge is to sell an item for potions. You will get potions equivalent to the class of the sold item. Move your mouse over our class 2 necklace (orange slot) and click "Potions" then confirm.1ACTION_CRAFT_bf8146_turnorder

nalkaWe received two potions! Only we can see their effects. You can drink a potion once per turn at any time. To do so, you move your mouse over it and click "Use". Its effects will last until the end of the current turn. When forging, you can also choose to sell a potion to get a new one (as if you sold a class 1 item).1ROGUE_GEN

nalkaAn other way to get potions, is to give up on taking an item (after winning a fight or using "Guard" for example) and taking potions instead. Just like when selling items, you get as many potions as the class of the item you give up on taking.2ROGUE_GEN
