contigLet's get exploring! Faraway is a quick set collection game played over 8 rounds. Over the course of the game, players will explore 8 lands and at game end, the player with the most points wins!1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

contigEach player starts the game with 3 region cards. To start a round, each player privately picks one of their region cards to explore/play.2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

contigSelect the blue 49 on the left to start. We'll see why this was a good move in a moment.3fa_target_1

contigBecause we played a lower number than our opponent (49 versus 50), we get first choice from the available cards in the market supply. 1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

contigSee the three symbols above the number 12 on the bottom of the card we played? We need these symbols on our future cards in order to score 12 points.2fa_card_front_4

contigSome of those symbols are on this region 4 card, so let's take it into our hand. When we play it in a future turn, this will help us satisfy that requirement.3fa_card_front_1

contigThe next round starts. Let's play this red 4 card. It has a low number, so there's a good chance we'll pick first from the market.1fa_target_7

contigNote some cards score variable number of points, depending on what other symbols you have. Regions only score points for symbols on cards AFTER them (and symbols on themselves)1fa_target_11

contigRegion 22 has a map and map bonus, so let's take it from the market.2fa_target_12

contigThen play region 22. (We could play another card in our hand, but this is a good play for now.)1fa_target_15

contigNote that region 22 will score 1 point per map on itself and later map tiles. However we won't get 1 point for the map on region 49 as it was played before region 22.1fa_card_front_10

contigSome mysterious sanctuaries also appeared! We'll learn about these in a moment. But first, let's pick a region.2fa_card_front_16

contigOur opponent's region 10 was lower than our region 22, so they got to pick first. But we still have two regions to pick from.1archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

contigThat 62 looks difficult to do. Those thistle symbols are the rarest symbol in the game, whereas the blue stones are the most common. So pick region 17 to add to our hand.2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment

contigSince our new region number 22 is *greater* than our previous region 4, we get a choice of sanctuaries. We always get one to pick from, but we get one more per map we have. (So 2 maps = 2 more choices)1fa_card_front_10

contigThis sanctuary has that blue symbol that we need for regions 49 and 17, so let's pick it. Symbols on sanctuaries can always be used for requirements and scoring, so they are a great find!2fa_card_front_18

contigOur next move could be to play 56 and it will give us another sanctuary (56 is greater than 22), and another scoring opportunity.1fa_target_21

contigThe game normally continues for 8 rounds. At the end of the game, you'll score your regions from right to left, plus any points on sanctuaries.2archivecontrol_editmode_centercomment
