In 3D mode, the "rotate" button should rotate by 60 degrees instead of 90. A corner should always be facing the viewer so it's easier to see which way the sun is (or will be) facing.

Allow me to offer a refinement to this suggestion: instead of only a 60- or 90- degree rotation, let there be buttons for 30-, 60- , and 90-degree rotations so that players have full flexibility to rotate the board with reference to the sun's facing or to a board edge as they see fit.
