It wasn't a display bug, we had to abandon the game because we couldn't repair the right rooms from afar.
On top of the engine room fixing the crew quarters, repairing the mess hall caused the already fully repaired medic room to become repaired, consuming the resources but not fixing anything.

The screenshot didn't work, but you can see the crew quarters being fixed when trying to fix the badly damaged engine room in the replay.
