trick takes one trick (two cards) from
their opponent.

Here the game continues as usual. I expected that the winner of that trick now gets the possibility to draw 2 cards from opponent!?

This is not the rule : the effect of Purple Potion allows the winner of the trick to steal a PREVIOUS trick won by opponent. So when opponent didn't score any trick yet, the Purple Potion has no effect.
