I just want to acknowledge this one, the main blocker is the layout would be drastically different almost as if I would need an entirely new tpl, so while I am keeping this in mind it is a long way off. I just wanted to get something out there so we can at least do tournament play.

I don't think you'd need a new tmp - you'd just need the css to accommodate it. You can add a ".four-player" or ".three-player" to some high-level element on the table, and then use child selectors to reorder them.

In fact, it'd not be the _worst_ thing to just show your 1, 2, or 3 opponents/partner all in a row at the top, while you're at the bottom; It's not like a trick-taking game where it's confusing to "not see where the cards moved to", and they'd still be played in a line.

Crib (pre Covid) is a game that's been played in hundreds of thousands of pubs & social clubs across the UK for many, many decades. There, it's generally played 4-handed, so it COULD be that BGA might be able to press into a slightly different market if this (excellent) version could be a set up for pairs to play.

BUT please don't arrange it so that people can CHOOSE partners (as is done at present in Spades), as that
(1) might encourage focus on an approach that turns it into a FIGHT TO BE THE GREATEST PAIR, rather than just a game, and
(2) albeit only for what hopes might be a very, very small few, opens the door to couples cheating (using mobile phones, sms, and even zoom).

Is it possible to announce a tentative date for the 3/4 player version? I would love to be able to play more with my family as a group, they love Crib!! We are using it right now with the video chat on and it's a great way to "hang out" virtually, but I can only connect with one at a time this way so someone is always left out.

Very excited anout the group possibilities!! Thanks!!

It is not, even if I get it done by the end of Feb it takes about 5-7 months of alpha / beta

I am an aspiring web developer and avid BGA player interested in trying my hand at developing a game, and as a big cribbage fan, I am excited about the possibility of making adding 3/4 player support to this game my first effort as a BGA studio contributor! Is it possible for someone to fork and update an existing implementation of a game like that, and would that cause any problems? If this is possible, I'd be happy to try it.

To follow up, I'd love to try to tackle 3/4 player cribbage, but while I have web dev experience, it's in a very different framework than BGA uses. I could use a collaborator/mentor who is willing to show me the ropes and I could take the reins from there, if anyone's interested!

The development version of the update is complete, and I am working with BGA admin to begin the deployment process. The changes required to add 3 and 4 player, and teams, modes were significant enough it will likely require pausing the game on BGA to let current turn-based games complete, and might be good to go back to Beta for a bit to allow everyone to exercise all the changes.
