end game was triggered because I had the machines card that let me win with only 2 secured idols. I discarded all treasure cards when activating that exact machines card ;)

So only activating an already activated card was the issue( which I could not see in the replay)

I tried to reproduce it, but didn't manage to do so yet. I will try to reproduce it in the next few days. You said you couldn't see it in the replay, but I guess that is the point: I did an activation, which can be seen in the log, but nothing actually happened visually (no number of symbols changed, no card changed from inactive to active). The game then showed me "You may activate another card", and I also was able to only activate 1 "more" card

well, I didn't manage to reproduce it when I tried, but now it happened again:
boardgamearena.com/table?table=618837770 , move #48. and then almost again at move #66 (I refreshed and then activated the card I actually wanted to activate), and this time I have a screenshot of how the activation zone of the card above is highlighted instead: imgur.com/a/fpG6p3x

I figured it out:
1. click on any activatable card
2. click on any card that is already activated
3. click on "Activate"
4. click on "Confirm Activation"
