Not sure if the table I used for report has any direct relevance. Thought it _might_ be one where a new player joined and didn't understand the rules difference.

6Nimmt specific at all to me.

Kingdomino (7x7 mode) or RFTG (2 phases/turn) are good examples of games which are just COMPLETELY different @2 or 4 players.

IMO, Mixing the ELO and other things, like game parameters doesn't make any sense for tihs kind of reasons, but... well, doing things in a proper way would probably be a lot of work.

I don't make this suggestion lightly. Kingdomino-x7, is not as different from regular kingdomino as is 6nimmt-pro from 6-nimmt. Being required to place cards left or right, higher or lower, changes everything -- including the influence of chance. ... I appreciate that this is a radical suggestion. But, take some time to think about it. 6 nimmt! pro' is more than just a variant.

There are a couple of reasons why this is good, but I also think it would be quite an undertaking with so many games that play very different with each variant and different number of players.

For instance the top couple players in nimmt play only 2-player. Most players that reach the top 5 will never have an opportunity to play them...they will never meet. So 2-player vs 5-player is even a bigger difference than pro vs normal.

The main reason this would be a good idea is that an expert player that only plays normal wont join a pro game (and vice versa) because it hurts their elo and it's not a game they excel at.

I would add that under current, crazy, high load conditions, this would be all the more valuable. I've found it difficult -- and at times, impossible -- to get a game of 6 nimmt! started. Dividing the pools of games that players are searching for would help this problem a lot.

This is the case for a lot of games, separating them might make the number of games artificially high.

One of the best examples of different games in one is checkers (draughts). The 4 variants: Checkers, International Draughts, Brazilian Draughts and Russian Draughts even have separate Wikipedia entries (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Draughts_variants) and especially checkers vs international draughts have completely different player bases.

without going as far as a separate game, it is certain to be a distinguishing mark when you get into the game.
I am sometimes on a normal game and a pro and I am obliged to go and see the options each time

I have my settings prefer to play pro. It seems many times people cancel or refuse to start a game because they see it will be pro. Easily experience half a dozen cancels before a group is willing to play pro.

Good observation, macpuddock. More than once, I've had people quit games after start because they didn't notice before that it was the "wrong" variant.

Maybe put 6 nimmt! professional and regular 6 nimmt! under two separate dropdowns to avoid the problem that macpuddock mentioned above, but please do not make them two separate games.

The main game screen should identify clearly which game you are playing. I like both variants equally, and often have multiple game of each going at the same time. It is essential to have an indicator on the main playing board to identify which variant is being played, to avoid having to go to the options tab every time.

With this logic, tons of games with expansions or variants will be split into 'different games'.

If they were made separate games, it would help both games, and all players involved. This should be the only consideration. Right now, it's mostly two separate communities of players who accidentally join tables they don't want to play at, every hour, every day, constantly.

These two games are as different as the games "Hearts" and "Spades". Although they use the same components and mechanics, the games are completely different. Note: The components for "Hearts" and "Spades" come in the same box, but are considered two different games.

Saboteur and Saboteur2 are sold as two separate games in different boxes, yet for some reason on BGA they are consolidated into one game.

The two "Crew" games are about as different as the two "Saboteur" games, but the names are slightly more different, so this must be the reason they are two games instead of one.

My point is there isn't a hard and fast rule on BGA about this. 6 Nimmt is one of the most popular games and is plagued by this confusion more than other games that I know of.

So I support this request.

Disappointed. The big argument against seems to be "what about the other games with variants?", and that is a poor argument. Wreckage wrecked that argument. This is the game where variant confusion is irritating to players and makes it harder to find the desired table. And, I can't see any real downside.

I already rejected this, and this will never be accepted by either BGA or the publisher as well.
Actually I tried doing a similar thing in Gomoku before (separating Gomoku and Caro), then it was rejected by BGA.
If you want to affect Arena mode setting, you should rather persuade gurus than pursuing an unobtainable goal like this.
Also, your analogy is wrong. A playing card set is not a 'game box' with predefined rules.
